Best New Crest: Final Five

By Staff, 04/20/22, 3:00PM EDT

Five group winners were selected, but only one can be the Best New Crest.

Sure, these five clubs were all voted, by you, as the best new crests in their groups last week.

Sure, we could stop it here, and call them all winners, as these clubs show some of the best USL League Two has to offer.

We're not going to. Now it's time for you to pick the very best new crest, for eternal bragging rights.

Remember - you can only be new once. It's time to vote for 2022's Best New Crest.

Minneapolis City SC

Minneapolis City has been playing soccer in the Twin Cities for six years, and have the fan base to show for that time spent. Their fans showed out for the Group Stage of Best New Crest, as they slipped out in front of Chicago City's flag-based look. It's an iconic look from the Crows - the bird, scanning the horizon for all approaching teams, ready to be greeted by the Citizens support group. The black and white is simple, but iconic, and a rallying figure for all soccer fans in the north. They open their season at home against reigning champion Des Moines Menace on May 8.

Blue Goose SC

We truly do love the angry goose. Everyone loves the angry goose. And who wouldn't? The Shreveport-based club won a Louisiana-heavy group full of great designs from the likes of LA Krewe and LA Parish AC. The distinct colors, unique shape and dominating goose has already made this crest a fan favorite in Louisiana. Blue Goose faced stiff competition from LA Parish AC in particular, their bird-based opponents from the southeast. They'll face LA Parish on June 18, a true Battle of the Birds. But before that match - Blue Goose could be voted as the league's Best New Crest for 2022.

One Knoxville SC

It's hard to not fall in love with One Knoxville's gradient, from orange to deep blue. It's an alternative take on what a soccer crest can be - gone are busy details and mascots, instead replaced by an aesthetic, professional look for a club that carries itself extremely professionally. Fans in Tennessee and across the League Two landscape responded, as the club dominated their group in the first round. The setting sun over the rolling hills of Tennessee brings a sense of calm and nobility. Until, of course, the sun fully sets on May 14, when they'll have their home opener and inaugural League Two game against Asheville City. We imagine they'll be anything but calm then.

Ballard FC

Nobody has kicked a ball in a competition for Ballard FC yet, but the energy in Washington is already palpable. They're the second club on this list so far to feature a setting sun - it's a hit with the people! Ballard's strong, distinct colors will shine through even the cloudiest of days in the Pacific Northwest. Plus, the most distinct part of their unique crest and identity - the Ballard Bridge, which sits over Salmon Bay between the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle and Interbay, where the team will play its home games. In the evening, when the sun sets off the west coast, it creates an image much like the one in Ballard's crest. They kick off May 21, as they host Lane United.

Vermont Green FC

Not our first, not our second, but our THIRD sun making it into the final round of 2022's Best New Crest competition. Vermont Green's club vision is about being environmentally sound and leaving their home better than they found it. That message of staying green has resonated with their fans and comes out in this green-themed crest. The mountain has a smile stretched across its face, as the sun rests behind it and healthy trees flank either side. Vermont's mission is clear, and they hope to accompany that message with a winning record on the pitch. Their season kicks off May 15 at Boston City FC, one of the clubs they defeated in the group stage of this contest.
