Before the Whistle

After a three-away-game stretch, Virginia Beach United (4-4-2) will play at home again tomorrow night (July 1st) against the Tri-Cities Otters (4-3-3) in week 11 of USL League Two.
Who’s on the Other Side?
The team from Tennessee is the second most efficient team in the South Atlantic Division when it comes to scoring. The Otters have scored 18 so far, only two goals behind Lionsbridge. VBU needs to keep both eyes open for Taylor Gray, who has scored five times, almost a third of the teams’ goals in the season.
The last time both teams faced each other, VBU tied 3-3 with them; all three goals were scored by different players. That’s what makes it hard for the teams who face Tri-Cities. The Otters have multiple players who can be a problem. Nine different players have scored in the season already.
What Do We Have?
VB United’s Donnett Sackie has really been the center of attention in the past few weeks. The striker from Liberia is the team’s leader in goals (4). All of his goals were scored in the last three games. Sackie will try to keep his numbers high to help VBU grab another home win. Sam Pollard and Luis Martinez will help him as both have three assists each in the season.
What’s at Stake?
This game is a direct battle between these two teams. The Otters currently sit fourth in the table with 15 points, right above VBU, who has 14 and still has the chance of winning the league.
A win tomorrow would bring Virginia Beach up to 17 points, leaving the Otters behind and tying with Lionsbridge, who currently holds the third position.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM (ET) at Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
