Virginia Beach United (4-4) was barely edged out in their USL League 2 match against North Carolina FC U23 (5-5) Tuesday evening, June 18th. Alex Rose scored two goals to carry NCFC to their narrow 2-1 victory over VBU. Rose’s goals came in the 24th and 85th minute. VBU battled all night and managed to get one goal back in the last minutes of the match when Donnett Sackie beat the defense in the 90th minute, but VBU was unable to find that elusive tying goal before the final whistle.

VBU looks to rebound from this loss in their next away game against the Tri-Cities Otters on Saturday, June 22nd. The Otters are currently sitting second in the division and a win for VBU Saturday night could spark a win streak going into the backend of their schedule. Be on the lookout for the pre-match report: “Before the Whistle” which covers all the details going into VBU’s next match.
