After grabbing their second home win in a row, Virginia Beach United will get back on the road tomorrow for a three-away-game sequence; starting with North Carolina FC U23, who has the same amount of points as VBU in the league table.
Who’s on the Other Side?
Both teams have faced each other earlier in the season. VBU fell to North Carolina FC at home 1-3.
In the first match, North Carolina scored two goals with Julian Ngoh and one with Robert Screen. Those are the two players VBU needs to pay closer attention to, as they are now the top scorers on the team. Ngoh has three goals and one assist while Screen has two goals.
What Do We Have?
At this moment, the two big names for VBU are Gui Leme and Daniel Corona Rojas. Rojas has earned a spot on the starting XI after scoring a goal against Wake FC, and used this chance to score another one last Saturday. The striker has shown that he can be a great weapon for Virginia Beach.
Gui Leme, on the other hand, has been a starter since the beginning of the season. The Brazilian also scored one of the goals that gave VBU their second home win on Saturday. Both players have two goals each, and are now the leaders in goals for Virginia Beach United.
What’s at Stake?
Even though VBU lost the first battle, the situation has changed since then. Virginia Beach is having a good sequence, winning 12 out of the 15 points they could have earned. With their two game win streak, VBU now sits third in the South Atlantic Division standings, right above North Carolina FC. Both teams have 12 points but VBU has a 4-3 record, while North Carolina, who has played two more games, has a 4-5 record.
The standings set the tone for the match. VBU is looking into getting revenge and keep their winning streak going, while North Carolina FC will try to recover from a loss against Wake FC that took place last Monday. It’s a great opportunity for Virginia Beach to get three points over a direct opponent who’s also trying to climb on the table. The game will take place tomorrow (June 18th) at the WMSP Field at 7:00 PM (ET).
